Solid surface washbasins and sinks come in two kinds, and the choice decides colour, shape and how the basin meets the top. Cast models are moulded in one piece in A101 Glacier White. Fabricated sinks are built from 12 mm sheet in any Akrilika colour. Both kinds are bonded into a solid surface top with colour-matched adhesive, not silicone. The model cards below list the dimensions from the manufacturer’s catalogue and drawings.

Pick cast when the project is white and the model fits the cabinet: the bowl geometry is fixed and repeatable. Pick fabricated when the basin must match a coloured worktop, or when the size is not in the cast range.
The mkbm models are a hybrid: solid surface walls with an AISI 304 stainless-steel bottom 1.2 mm thick, for undermount fitting. They carry a separate 1-year warranty.
How to read the model dimensions
Cast basins are catalogued by internal bowl size: m283, for example, is 415 × 330 mm inside and 140 mm deep. Fabricated sinks are drawn with both external and internal sizes. mk101 is 425 × 425 mm outside and 400 × 400 mm inside.
- Use the internal size to compare usable bowl space and tap reach.
- Use the external size for the cut-out, the cabinet and clearance to rails and drawers.
- The catalogue also gives a cabinet module for each cast model. Treat it as a minimum and confirm it against the drawing.
- m281 and m286 have a built-in overflow. m201 is supplied without a waste fitting.
If a card shows only internal dimensions, ask us for the drawing before cutting any top.
Bonded without silicone
Cast sinks are bonded to the worktop with the manufacturer’s special adhesive, without silicone, and leave no gap between top and bowl. A silicone bead is a line where dirt collects and which has to be renewed. A bonded joint can be sanded and polished like the rest of the surface.
For a fully integrated look in colour, the alternative is a basin fabricated from the same sheet as the top. Akrilika thermoforms, so pressed and radius-cornered bowls are possible. A101 colour: cast basin next to sheet
All cast models are A101 Glacier White. The catalogue warns that a cast sink may differ slightly from A101 sheet, because they are produced at different times. On a single vanity this is rarely visible. On a hotel series of identical rooms it can be. Place a production basin next to an offcut from your sheet batch before signing off, and order sheets for the whole series together.
Care limits that apply to every acrylic sink
- Do not use water above 115 °C. Run cold water before pouring boiling water into the bowl.
- Do not fit a food-waste disposer. The vibration damages the sink.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners on the bowl.
- Scratches, chips and cracks can be repaired without visible traces. Sanding and polishing is done by a certified Akrilika fabricator and is charged.
Put these limits in the operation and maintenance manual, and check them against any boiling-water tap or disposer on the kitchen equipment list.
Basins for commercial projects
For washrooms, the usual routes are a cast basin undermounted in a solid surface top, a multi-basin top with several cast bowls, or a wash trough made to length. For kitchens and tea points, the cast m201, ma806, ma807 and ma950 sinks cover bowls of about 400 mm.
The warranty on our stainless-steel ms sinks excludes use in businesses and public places. For commercial kitchens, specify acrylic models and ask us for the warranty terms that apply to your project.

FAQ
Questions from specifiers
Are the dimensions on the model cards internal or external?
The catalogue models (m201, m281, m283, m283L, m285L and m286) are listed by internal bowl size. Where a drawing gives the outside size, such as m286 at 497 × 364 mm and 173 mm high, the card shows both. Cut-outs and cabinet widths must be taken from the external dimensions, so ask us for the drawing before you cut.
Can I get a cast basin in a colour other than white?
The cast models are made in A101 Glacier White only. If the project needs another colour, the answer is a fabricated sink or basin built from sheet in any Akrilika colour, such as the mk series of kitchen sinks, or an integrated basin made to your drawing.
Will the cast basin match an A101 worktop exactly?
Not always. The catalogue states that a cast sink may differ slightly from A101 sheet, because the two are produced at different times. On a large project, check a basin next to a sheet offcut from your batch before you approve the series.
Can the sinks be used in commercial kitchens and public washrooms?
The material is used in commercial interiors, but the limits apply everywhere: no water above 115 °C, no food-waste disposer and no abrasive cleaners. Note that the warranty on our stainless-steel sinks excludes use in businesses and public places, so for commercial kitchens specify acrylic models and ask us for the terms.
Do you supply clinical or medical basins?
A medical series exists, with cast, fully coved basins for patient rooms, nurse stations and scrub areas. Availability for European projects is on request, and we do not list these models as stock items. Send us the room type and quantities and we will confirm what can be supplied.
